# Delete your account (/docs/account/delete-account)

Deleting your account removes your profile, sessions, and memberships. It cannot be undone, so
[download your data](/docs/account/export-data) first if you want a copy.

Under **Your data** in `/settings`, enter your **Password** and choose **Email me a deletion
link**.

Open the confirmation link in the email. Your account is deleted when you open it.

You cannot delete your account while you own an organization. Transfer ownership to another
member or delete the organization first, then try again.

The ownership check runs twice: when you ask for the link, and again when you open it.
